Encourage participants to interact with content and show them how to do it. Start up by letting the participants chat on basic definitions of terms to be discussed in the webinar. The purpose is to get participants to contribute definitions, discuss terms or explore the webinar content via chat, poll, pods together on the screen. The information they share at this stage should be known knowledge or known terms. They are practicing online collaboration by discussing relatively well-known concepts and this raises confidence before more advanced discussions can take place. The effect on the participants should be motivation and responsibility to participate.
Questions to be asked at this stage should be:
- usually closed questions
- on definitions of the subject
- to check for knowledge
- to comment on the presenter slides
- to give feedback to the moderator and thereby the screen and the participants
